BEWARE OF TOMPLAY fellow music students!!! They ain´t so cute. I found this lines on the OUR VALUES section of their web page and wanted to share it... "Based on deeply humanistic convictions, we would like to spread the world’s musical patrimony..." So, this sounds nice, right? But wait, how is it that forcing clients into an unwanted renewal of their subscription at a full price is "deeply humanistic"? How is it that not sending a warning e-mail to make sure clients who are charged really appreciate and want to keep their services, is "deeply humanistic"? THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN A LOT OF COSTUMERS COMPLAINING TO THEM. How is it that ignoring the request of a human being that after a few hours of getting the subscription renewed contacts them to ask to cancel and refund, as the only reason it was renewed was that she didnt receive any warning and that the 120 euros charge is really a problem for her, how is ignoring this petition "deeply humanistic"? "Sorry, no refunds, we need to pay our musicians...", they say. Could you please explain how exactly are your musicians paid, that you need to force subscribers to pay for an unwanted year in order to pay your musicians?

I came back to piano 3 months ago after having left Music once at Medicine to become a surgeon (always something that has got to do with hands). Finished Beyer, learnt Chopin prelude n.4 and Bach prelude Cmaj. I love jazz and have scheduled to study the Oscar Peterson exercises. But I would like do other exercises. What kind of test do you recommend? Mikrokosmos, Czernyana, Schumann, Burgmuller, Hanon, Cesi Marciano, or others? Thank you for your precious advices

I've started Alfred book 1. I want to learn classical but I also want to be able to play pop and chord based songs (contemporary/spiritual). Can I use both one after the other? Is this a good option?

As someone who's interested in the technical/mechanics part of playing the piano and not really interested in anything pop related. So this means I am aiming to play a lot of Etudes and Liszt pieces, is there any point in going with Piano Adventures? I know that it covers lots of things, but not sure if they are worth it due to my technical focus? I was also planning to dip my toes someday in Jazz, as I always loved that genre, but not sure if that would change the book preference. I will be self-teaching, but I am open to the occasional teacher visits.

So for Faber I should progress from Adult Piano Adventures Book 1 and Book 2, and then go to Piano Adventures 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b. So that would be 6 additional books? I am asking this since you never mentioned the exact book names (nor linked) and you never mentioned the a and b versions.

I am an intermediate beginner! I quickly learned that there is a big gap between beginner and level 1. It is intuitive that one would start at level, right? Oh no! Try sitting down and playing Hannon 1 as a newbie and see how that goes. There is a long slow preschool before one enters into 1st grade. LOL!

Terrific! This really is a "fun little piece." I especially appreciate where you instruct the student(i.e.me) to go only as fast as my hands allow in order to achieve & maintain clarity and eveness. Very nicely done. But why did you not include the melodic minor scale?

I would question any teacher who uses A Dozen a Day Series beyond the first year or two. Also, shouldn't the exercises be practiced beyond 2 octaves? And, as the student begins mastering the Major and Minor scales, shouldn't the Dozen a Day exercises be transposed so as to learn and master that skill? At what point should Hanon be introduced? It's good you advised introducing classical music that demonstrates the Exercise skills being taught. If the piano teacher simply assigns A Dozen a Day to be practiced as an end in and of itself, I would look for a more knowledgeable teacher or even a University school-age program. There's no time to waste on inferior pedagogy or teachers who treat learning piano as a hobby. If the child is interested and wants to learn classical music there's not a minute to waste. 💜🎹
